The main forest area of the Companhia das Lezírias, in Charneca do Infantado, has 8,853 hectares spread over the four main tree species of the Portuguese forest. This area consists of:
Companhia das Lezírias has its forest management certified by an international standard since 27/9/2010 (SA – FM / COC – 002659 certificate).
This certification highlights to the Companhia and its customers and employees, the sustainability of its forest management. This public recognition is of particular importance, as the Companhia das Lezírias has in its custody a territory with resources of high importance.
It is this forest that supports the habitats and many species, particularly birds, that justify that an important part of the “Companhia” (of which 5,000 ha are forest) is included in the Special Protection Zone and on the site that will be part of the Natura 2000 network.
Of the approximately 150 bird species and 24 mammal species that have been observed in CL’s forest area, they have conservation status (endangered, vulnerable, insufficiently known or critically endangered):European Honey Buzzard (Pernis apivorus);

Recent flora surveys have already identified 335 species of vascular plants in a total of 59 families. Of these, there is the presence of a species with conservation status, Thymus capitellatus and the presence of a rare species, Elatine brochonii.
